Researchers of the Japanese Waseda University together with specialists of Kao Corp. it was possible to prove that lack of sleep causes a person to have an appetite more often. Consequently, the body, with constant energy consumption, begins to gain weight.

This scientific study involved men in the age category of 23-25 years. They were divided into 2 subgroups. For three days, each participant lived in a special room equipped with all devices for calculating the activity of metabolism.

The subjects included in the first subgroup were given 7 hours a day to sleep, when the time for the second subgroup was two times less. But the nutrition of all the young men was identical. After calculating the amount of hormones associated with appetite control, the scientists concluded: with a lack of time allotted for sleep, their specific weight is reduced by 10%. In men who slept 3.5 hours a day, appetite worsened at a later time. After the body has managed to get enough sleep, it gains strength. The less you sleep– the more you gain weight. This is the conclusion made by Japanese experts.

British scientists, in turn, managed to establish the root cause of the reduction in the time allotted for sleep. It was urbanization, the rapid development of information technology and industrialization. Now a person has practically no time to sleep, because the world has absorbed technological progress. Throughout life, a person spends a lot of time sleeping, so its reduction has a detrimental effect on health. On average, sleep lasts 7 hours 3 minutes, although half of the population of our planet sleeps from 5 hours 30 minutes to 8 hours 35 minutes.
